Once a placid town, Fish Hoek - situated along the False Bay coastal road to Simons Town - is becoming the perfect place to browse in and out of small shops along the busy main street operating market stalls and buzzing with pavement shoppers. With much history to its name the story goes - to prohibit the raucous, thirsty sailors from stopping for a drink on their way to Simon's Town navy base, the original 1818 farm was granted only on the condition that there was no public wine house. 180 years on there is still no liquor store and any pub that opens up seems to go out of business very quickly, thus the new Bihari Indian Restaurant operates in true Halaal style, without any liquor sales, however, customers are welcome to bring their own wine at no additional charge.
